METHOD OF CONTINUOUSLY DRAWING AND FORMING COATED FRP BAR

PURPOSE:To draw and form a resin coated FRP bar smoothly and continuously to shorten the time required for production by impregnating a several strings of glass roving simultaneously with thermosetting resin and hardening them and subsequently coating the thermosetting resin by means of a cross head. CONSTITUTION:A number of glass roving bobbins mounted on stands 1, 1' are turned and several glass rovings are incorporated into a bundle 2, which is passed through an impregnation tank 4 storing unsaturated polyester resin and impregnated with the resin. The bundle of glass rovings is than passed through a die 5 to squeeze excessive unsaturated polyester resin out of it before being passed through ultraviolet ray furnaces 6, 6 where its thermosetting resin is hardened. The bundle thereof is roughly made circular on a preforming stand 7 povided in the hardening furnace 6 and passed through a remote infrared hardening furnace 8. Subsequently, the FRP bar 19' is coated with the thermosetting resin in a cross head mold 14 and continuously drawn out.
