PURPOSE:To execute optical coupling with high efficiency by integrating an optical fiber so as to cross at a prescribed angle to a base body on the upper face of a base body on which a plane type thin optical waveguide film is formed, and also forming a prescribed plane type thin optical waveguide film on the upper face of the base body. CONSTITUTION:A base body 10, an optical fiber 11, a buffer layer 12 and a thin optical waveguide film 13 are provided. In an optical coupling circuit formed in this way, an optical fiber 11 crosses at an angle theta to the upper face of the base body 10, and when a propagation constant in the optical fiber 11 and a propagation constant in the optical waveguide film 13 are denoted as betaOF and betaTF, respectively, light is coupled to the optical waveguide film 13 from the optical fiber 11 when betaTF=betaOFsintheta is satisfied. |
