A heat exchanging container (2) with a circular or angular cross- section is longitudinally divided into an expulsion chamber (4) and an absorption chamber (5) by a hygroscopic partition (1) which has surfaces (11) on the expulsion side and (12) on the absorption side. Sealing elements (10) are situated at both ends of the partition (1) and seal off the partition (1) from the container (2). Ribs (3) are used to increase the effective outside surface of the container (2). A condenser (6) is interposed downstream of the container (2) in the direction of flow to liquefy the refrigerating agent. This is followed by a throttle element (8) which is used to throttle the refrigerating agent. There then follows an evaporator (7), the outlet of which is returned to the absorption chamber (5) of the container (2). Pipes (9) connect the container (2) to the condenser (6) on one side and to the evaporator (7) on the other. This sorption refrigerating apparatus can be operated continuously. It is a refrigerating assembly of simple design, with all the advantages of a static refrigerating machine. <IMAGE>
