It comprises two elongate retention elements (4) whose lower face has a profile or a composition such that the sliding of the said element over the snow is possible freely only in a longitudinal direction. Each retention element is carried by two arms (5, 6) articulated at its ends, and each arm is mounted pivotably in a bearing (7, 8) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the said element. This bearing is intended to be fastened onto the upper part of the ski (1), so that the retention elements are arranged parallel to the ski and laterally outside the latter on each side of its median portion, and are displaceable freely parallel to the surface of this ski between a low front retention position and a high rear sliding position (arrows I). <IMAGE>
