PURPOSE:To smoothen the substrate of a disk, to relieve impact force to a magnetic head, and to prevent the crushing of the head by successively forming a polyimide layer, a silicone resin layer and a magnetic iron oxide layer on each side of an Al substrate. CONSTITUTION:Polyimide is coated on each side of a doughnut-shaped Al plate of 14 in. diameter by a rotary coating method, the polyimide is dried by evaporating the solvent, and it is baked to form a polyimide layer of 10mum thickness. Polymethylsilsesquioxane prepd. by polymerizing trifunctional silane is similarly coated on the polyimide layer, and it is cured to form a silicone resin layer of 0.2mum thickness A gamma-Fe2O3 layer is formed on the silicone resin layer by subjecting an alpha-Fe2O3 layer to reduction and oxidation by sputtering in Ar. An SiO2 layer of 0.02mum thickness is further formed by sputtering, and a lubricant is applied to obtain a magnetic disk. |
