The invention relates to a method and a device for continually monitoring the core and system stability of boiling reactors. To implement the method, equipment is required for collecting, digitising, storing and processing signals from the reactor station, comprising a computer 16 with memory, an A/D converter 15 and units 17, 18, 19 for presentation of the results obtained and for giving an alarm 20 if too narrow stability margins are detected. The method consists of continually or intermittently recording time lapses of certain selected signals from the reactor station, which are changed in the A/D converter 15 from analog to digital format for storage in the computer's memory. Signals from selected time periods are processed in the computer 16, whereby the time fluctuations (the noise) in the signals is auto-correlated. From the transient decay process of the obtained auto-correlations in the time scale, damping factors are identified, which by experience are representative of the damping factors in the underlying reactor processes, and thus the stability margins in the same are determined. The result is notified to the reactor operator via display devices 17, 18, 19 and as soon as the damping factor in the auto-correlation of any individual signal exceeds certain predetermined limit values an alarm 20 is given or a signal 21 is sent to the station to commence measures to improve the stability. <IMAGE> |
