Surface treatment for glass is intended to increase the glass transparency by removing total reflection from the glass surface and reduce eye strain. The glass surface is lapped by pumice of a particle size below 100μm to give uniform flaws and then is polished chemically with an etching soln. composed of HF 25-45 wt.%, HBF4 3-7 wt.%, glycerol 15-25 wt.%, and H2O 30-50 wt.%. Refloction is reduced by controlling the depth of flaws on the glass surface.
