PURPOSE:To obtain a multi-channel type radiation detector small, easy to manufacture and stable by forming a common electrode from an Ag paste on one surface of a p type CdTe monocrystalline substrate while a plurality of thin film electrodes are formed on the other radiation incident surface at a specified pitch. CONSTITUTION:A common electrode 6 made up of an Ag paste layer is provided on the back of a p type CdTe crystalline plate and supported on a support holder 8. This film electrodes 71-7n of Al or In are provided on one surface of the substrate at a specified pitch. When radiation beams (a) enter the surface of the substrate, a free carrier (carriers with numerous holes) is generated in a depletion layer 50 by a schotkey barrier injection between the substrate 5 and the thin film electrodes 71-7n and gathered into one corresponding to the incident beam in the electrodes 71-7n and taken out as ionized current. A multichannel type radiation detector small, easy to manufacture and stable can be obtained. |
