PURPOSE:To form a rolled metallic net suitable for production of a composite material by placing edge materials on a net-like body formed by scoring a thin metallic plate and expanding transversely the plate and passing said body through rolling rolls thereby widening the surface area of net strands and increasing flexibility of the net-like body. CONSTITUTION:A thin metallic plate is scored and is expanded transversely in the direction at a right angle to the scores to form a net-like body having an increased apparent thickness with the net strands of a rectangular section rising diagonally. Edge materials are placed in the parts intended to be longitudinally cut at both ends or in the middle and the entire part is rolled to about <=0.5mm. thickness between rolling rolls. The strands are then flattened to increase the surface area and the flexibility of the net-like body. The net-like body is cut at the edge material part and is coiled as a rolled net with edges having dimensional stability in the longitudinal direction. On the other hand, the net-like body is subjected to drawing in a flat plate state and is then hot rolled or bundled. The bundle is passed through a die to make the same fine, strong and flexible and is coiled in the form of a rope. The net-like body for a composite material having a large surface area with respect to weight and large flexibility is thus obtd. |
