PURPOSE:To enable continuous coiling of ribbons by evacuating instantaneously the inside of the nozzle of a device for producing a light-gate strip by quick cooling with a liquid thereby stopping instantaneously the ejection of the molten metal to break the ribbon and exchanging a roll with another one. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a quartz nozzle 6 is instantaneously evacuated by using a rotary pump 5 of a large displacement provided with a solenoid valve 8. The ejection of a molten metal is then decreased or stopped instantaneously to break a ribbon; at the same time, another take-up roll 10 is approached to a ribbon forming roll 9 to take up the ribbon. The pressure for the evacuation in this case is required to be adequately changed in accordance with the head of the molten metal.
