The invention relates to a magnetic tape cassette. This cassette includes a case 1, an opening 9 in which is closed by a front cover 14 hinged to the case and a rear cover 34 which can move conjointly with the movement of the front cover. The strand of the magnetic tape 6 which passes in front of the opening 9 is enclosed between the front cover and the rear cover and these latter open simultaneously with the loading of the cassette in order to free the tape. The invention applies in particular to recorders of television pictures on magnetic tape. <IMAGE>
