The optical collector device is intended for a solar simulator for irradiating objects. It comprises several elementary segments arranged around a light source P so as to superimpose all the images of the source P on the object. Each segment comprises several identical spherical lenses I, II, III, IV, the light source P being at their focus and first plane mirrors B, C, D reflecting the light received from some of the lenses II, III, IV towards the object to be irradiated. The light gathered by an upper lens I is reflected by a second plane mirror A towards a third plane mirror E which sends it back towards the object. The invention enables very compact, and therefore small-diameter collector devices to be constructed, it being possible to place the lenses I, II, III, IV and the mirrors B, C, D, E very close to the source P. <IMAGE>
