[Also in Division A4] A settee has a recess 2 within a side portion 1 and a covering member 3 for the recess carries, at its bottom, lighting gear 4, the member 3 being attached to bars 5 which slide in guides 6 in portion 1 and are urged upwards by springs 10 when detents 13 are released from notches 14 in member 3, damping springs 8 being provided between guides 6 and members 7 at the bottom of the bars 5. The light 4 is controlled by a, switch 12 operated by member 3. In a modification, Fig. 3, covering member 23 is formed as a cone or cylinder and the light 24 is carried in a tube 25 fixed thereto, the bar being urged upwardly by a spring 30 and having a damping spring 28. Tube 25 is transparent or has cutouts in its side walls to permit light to escape sideways. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the covering member 37 is rotatable about an axis 40 and the interlocking device comprises magnets 42 and soft iron in the corresponding parts of member 37. |
