The novel apparatus for trapping and killing small mammals, in particular rodents, for example mice is intended to make it possible to kill the trapped animal by means of electrical energy by taking account of the experimentally established behaviour pattern of small rodents. In a housing 22, 23 (cf. Figure 1), the device has a passage 39 having entry openings 40, 41 at one or both ends and possibly having a rectangular cross section. Transversely to its longitudinal direction, one side wall of the passage is constructed as a pusher 3 and the other side wall as a flap 6. The electrodes 24, 5, which are oppositely situated in the passage 39, are connected to a high-voltage generating system which is actuated by sensors, for example an infrared reflecting light barrier 9, 10 for the animal which enters. Scent chambers may be provided for the use of scents. The spacing of the electrodes 24, 5 can be adjustable. <IMAGE>
