To carry out a method for soil loosening in wet or similarly heavy soils and also for small-scale use in gardens or the like, there is provided a loosening implement (10) in the form of a subsoiling couter which is mounted on a frame (23) supported or temporarily anchored (54) relative to the ground. This implement (10) can now be drawn through the unworked soil along the frame (23) by means of a chain drive (46) during the standstill or anchoring phase of the motive or other driving device (82). Thereafter, the vehicle (82, 23) is shifted further forwards by the amount of a frame length (23), and the implement (10) is drawn through the unworked soil again after it to the same extent. <IMAGE>
