PURPOSE:To improve reliability of an optical disk device by providing a loading/ unloading means for bringing an optical head close to an optical disk or separating it from said disk, so that the optical head and the optical disk do not contact with each other at the time of a positioning operation of the optical head. CONSTITUTION:When an optical disk 2 is installed and starts to rotate in the direction as indicated with an arrow B, a positioning device 6 starts a positioning operation, but in this case, an optical head 4 is at a position (interval epsilon) separated from the optical disk 2. When the optical head 4 reaches a prescribed position 4' and stands still, the optical head 4 is moved in the direction as indicated with an arrow C1, and at an adjacent position (interval delta) to the disk 2, a focus adjusting operation and a track follow-up controlling operation are executed, and when write or read of an information at this position is completed, the optical head 4 is separated from the optical disk 2, and moved onto the following designated track in a state of the interval epsilon, and thereafter, keeps the interval delta by a loading operation again, and the focusing operation and the track follow-up operation are executed. |
