There is disclosed a power storage battery made up of a plurality of electrically interconnected secondary electrochemical cells 12 located in a thermally insulating housing which has one or more heat pipes 22 at least partially located in the interior of the housing, one or more of said heat pipes being provided with a catalytic converter for the flameless catalytic combustion of hydrocarbon fuels, each converter forming a heat source for the supply of heat via the associated heat pipe or pipes to the interior of the housing.
