The bistables may be spare stages in the registers. The marker bit is preferably inserted and repropagated through the chain after each successful propagation. The position of a fault may be localized by monitoring the propagation of a marker bit through each of a number of series connected blocks of registers and, after detecting a fault, monitoring the marker bit propagation within the block of registers containing the fault. Data flow through the registers may also be subject to a parity check. |
