PURPOSE:To settle a problem of the deteriorated layer of a gap surface by working which especially becomes a problem to a magnetic head whose gap length is small, and to execute a good recording by forming a high magnetic permeability thin film on both surfaces of a high magnetic permeability material opposed to each other in the air-gap part of a closed magnetic path. CONSTITUTION:As for a ring-shaped magnetic head, a current flows to a coil 3, recording is executed by ustilizing a fact that a magnetic flux passing through in a high magnetic permeability material 1 leaks to the outside from a gap part 2, and reproducing is executed by picking up the magnetic flux leaking to the surface of a recording medium from a recorded medium, to the inside of the high magnetic permeability material 1 by the gap part 2, and detecting it by the coil 3. A high magnetic permeability thin film 5 is formed on the end face of the gap part 2 by means of spattering, etc., and a working affected layer 4 of the high magnetic permeability material 1 does not appear on the gap surface, therefore, the apparent gap length and the effective gap length coincide with each other, and it is suitable for conversion to a narrow gap. |
