A PROCESS FOR OLIGOMERIZING LIGHT OLEFIN CUPS IN THE PRESENCE OF A BORON TRIFLUORIDE CATALYST

Boron trifluoride in the gaseous state is brought into contact with the olefin cut in the absence of any catalyst support under conditions and for a period such that isobutene and/or butadiene which are present polymerise, the boron trifluoride and the isobutene and/or butadiene polymers obtained are then separated from the said cut in a manner known per se, and the olefins of the cut purified in this manner are then oligomerised in the presence of a catalyst containing boron trifluoride comprising a catalyst support.
