PURPOSE:Lublicating oil for a power transmission gear with excellent traction characteristics, oxidation stability, corrosion resistance, etc. capable of being easily synthesized industrially at a low cost, which is prepd. by using at least one hydrocarbon compd. having a hydrogenated diarylmethane skeleton. CONSTITUTION:The desired lubricating oil for a power transmission gear is obtd. by using a 16-21C hydrocarbon compd. of traction factor >=0.08 and of oxidation stability >=200min by the rotary bomb method having a skelecton obtd. by hydrogenating diarylmethane in which one aryl group is a monocyclic hydrocarbon group (e.g., benzene) and the other aryl group is a fused ring hydrocarbon group (e.g., naphthalene). |
