PURPOSE:To decrease the corona current in the stage of electrostatic charging, to provide high photosensitivity and to eliminate white spot flaws of an image by laminating an inorg. photoconductive layer essentially consisting of either of silicon and germanium and electric charge transfer layer essentially consisting of one of oxygen, sulfur and nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic sensitive body 1 has the charge transfer layer 3 and the inorg. photoconductive layer 4 on a base 2 as the electrophotographic sensitive body and the inorg. photoconductive layer 4 has a free surface 5 at one end face. The charge transfer layer 3 is constituted of the amorphous carbon layer a-C(:H:C) having at least a hydrogen or halogen atom and the inorg. photoconductive layer 4 is constituted of a material contg. at least a hydrogen or halogen atom and essentially consisting of at least silicon and germanium. The a-C(:H:C) film constituting the charge transfer layer 3 contains at least one of the oxygen, sulfur and nitrogen in order to decrease the specific dielectric constant thereof and the defects in the film and to eliminate the deterioration of the film with age so as to improve the stability.
