PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown or turning over of an edge and enable easy abutting an another edge when the edge is worn and ensure long use by using the another edge when the edge of a polygonal columnar blade is worn. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning device 15 is provided with a body facing a photosensitive drum 11 and a rodlike blade 22 made of rubber such as polyurethane etc. and having square sectional form. The axis of the blade 22 is loosely fitted to a long hole 24 and supported by an arm 25. The base of the arm 25 is supported by an axis 27. The gear 28 of the axis 23 is engaged with a retaining gear 23. The arm 25 is pulled by a spring 31 and brings the edge 32 of the blade 22 into contact with the surface of the drum 11, and cleans the surface of the drum. When the edge 32 is worn, the blade 22 is separated from the surface of the drum by turning the arm 25, and a new edge 32 is rotated by 45 deg. to position. |
