PURPOSE:To connect optical fiber in a short time without requiring skilled work by making centering work easy and improving restorability when returning to optimum position. CONSTITUTION:The device is made up of a monitor signal detector 19 for monitor light or ultrasonic wave, etc. from the end of optical fiber 17, 24 to be connected, a controlling program store and read-only memory 12, a read write memory 22, a controlling section 1 consisting of microprocessor etc., a driving circuit 13 that makes position controlling information input and sends out output for motor driving, a driving section consisting of driving motors 14-16 that can move one of two optical fiber clamping parts in three directions, i.e. axial, horizontal and vertical, of optical fiber to be connected or move remaining optical fiber in two directions by driving output of the driving circuit 13, heating and connecting sections 29, 30 etc. that make the optical fiber heated and fusion welded by discharge etc. |
