PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the width of an opening at a pawl part, by using a distance meter, which is arranged in the direction perpendicular to the surface of a flange of a seat pile, and an optical position meter, which is arranged in the direction in parallel with the flange surface at the upper part of the pawl part of the seat pile. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped seat pipe 10 is conveyed on a table roller 30 in the direction perpendicular to the surface of paper. A distance memter 20 is arranged in the direction perpendicular to a flange surface 12a of the seat pipe 10. A distance L between the distance meter 20 and the flange surface 12a is detected. An optical position meter 22 is arranged in the direction in parallel with the flange surface 12a at the upper part of the pawl part of the seat pile 10. Then, DELTAl, which is the amount of deviation of a flange side end part 14a of a pawl part 14 constituting a width G of the opening at the pawl part from an optical axis, is detected. Thereafter, the detected values L, DELTAl, and a distance l0 between the distance meter 20 and the optical axis (a) of the optical position meter are inputted into an operating device 38, and the width G of the opening of the pawl part is computed by the expression in the Figure and displayed on a digital display 38d. Thus, the width of the opening of the pawl part can be detected without contact. |
