METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING LIGHT-GAUGE METALLIC STRIP

PURPOSE:To obtain a light-gauge metallic strip having no black oxidation on the surface and having good quality on account of an excellent effect of suppressing oxidation and cooling by feeding forward the light-gauge metallic strip emerging from the kiss part between a pair of cooling rolls in tight contact with the peripheral surface of either one cooling roll in succession for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal 5 is charged 4 into the roll kiss part 7 between cooling rolls 1 and 2 which rotate in the directions opposite from each other to cool and solidify quickly the molten metal passing the part 7. The molten metal is discharged downward as a light-gauge strip 3. The strip 3 is then pressed in tight contact with the one roll 2 by gushing 8 cooling gas and the cooling of the strip 3 is thereby accelerated. The solidified strip 3 is drawn out under the prescribed tension applied by rotating pinch rolls 9, 10 and is taken up with a take-up reel 13. The strip 3 is quickly cooled from both sides thereof under the suppressed oxidation by the roll 2 or the cooling gas and the good amorphous strip 3 is formed. The strip 3 having good quality is thus obtd.
