PURPOSE:To increase the packing density in a casting mold and to improve productivity without the need for applying a coating material on the surface of the casting mold by compressing the molding sand packed in a molding chamber with a pressing cylinder and supplying curing gas thereby curing the sand. CONSTITUTION:When molding sand S contg. a gas curable org. binder is blown into a hermetic molding chamber 2 by supplying compressed air into a blow head 32, the compressed air is evacuated to the outside and only the sand S is packed in the chamber 2. The sand is then compressed to a prescribed packing density when a pressing cylinder 6 is extended. After the head 32 is moved upward, a gushing cylinder 41 is extended to move a gushing cover 37 to the position facing a molding sand blow hole 5 where the cylinder is stopped, then the head 32 is lowered to fit a projection 39a into the hole 5. Curing gas is supplied through an outlet and inlet port 12 to cure the molding sand. Compressed air is supplied through the port 12 into the molding sand in the chamber 2 upon stopping of the supply of the curing gas to remove thoroughly the curing gas remaining in the molding sand. |
