PURPOSE:To combine a luminance and a chrominance signal together into a reproduced signal, to reduce the size and weight of an image pickup optical system, and to obtain an excellent reproduced picture by providing two systems of image pickup optical system and image pickup element, and obtaining the luminance signal from the 1st image pickup system and the chrominance signal from the 2nd image pickup system synchronously. CONSTITUTION:Two image pickup lenses 14 and 16 are arranged on the front surface 12 of the housing 10 of a two-plate type still camera, and two-dimensional solid-state image pickup elements 18 and 20 are arranged at image-formation positions opposite to those lenses 14 and 16 to pickup images of the same object through the lenses 14 and 16. A color resolution filter 28 is provided on the image pickup surface 24 of this element 20, and a colorless and transparent, intermediate-color, or green filter 26 is provided to the image pickup surface of the element 18. Color resolution filter segments are arranged cyclically on the image pickup surface 24 of the filter 28 corresponding to an array of picture element columns. Then, the chrominance signal of respective resolved colors is outputted from the element 20 and luminance signal synchronizing with the chrominance signal outputted from the element 18 to combine together into a reproduced signal, thus reducing the size and weight of the image pickup optical system. |
