PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a magnetic head, to reduce the number of working manhours, and to improve the yield by polishing the recording end surface of the head, and then perform a magnetic deterioration treatment of the magnetic core surface of the head recording end surface except a recording gap selectively to nearly constant depth. CONSTITUTION:Nonmagnetic parts 205 are formed both circumferential parts of the gap part 204 of a center member 201. A core member is assembled in a head shape previously. Then medium opposing surface of the head, i.e. top surface is polished almost into a final work surface. Then, the entire end surface except a part 301 to be treated nonmagnetically is coated with a resist agent. Thus, the surface is coated with the resist selectively and then a different kind of material is mixed into the core material as shown by an arrow 302 so that the magnetic body forming the core deteriorates in magnetic characteristics. Then, the resist is peeled off, the surface is finished finally, and a coil, back core member, etc., are fitted to complete the assembling operation. |
