PURPOSE:To increase the discharge performance of a flat solid electrolyte battery having a negative electrode made of lithium or a lithium alloy by sealing the battery under reduced pressure in manufacturing it. CONSTITUTION:A flat solid electrolyte battery having a negative electrode 1 made of lithium or a lithium alloy is sealed under reduced pressure in manufacturing it. Since atmospheric pressure is constantly applied to the thus obtained battery, a sealing plate 5 is pushed by the atmospheric pressure thereby pushing the negative electrode 1 toward a solid electrolyte 2. As a result, the close contact between the negative electrode 1 and the solid electrolyte 2 is maintained even during electric discharge increasing the discharge utilization rate of the negative electrode 1, thereby obtaining a battery with good discharge performance. The symbol 6 represents a ceramic ring and the symbols 7 and 8 represent a blazing agent used to join the ceramic ring 6 and sealing plates 4 and 5. |
