PURPOSE:To enhance the operatability of a printer, by indicating a required number of printing lines according to the number of pieces of data stored in a data buffer in the printer. CONSTITUTION:The number of characters to be printed and the number of spaces corresponding to the characters which numbers are stored in the data buffer are added to each other, and the resultant counted value is stored in a counter. Based on the vounted value in the counter and the number of characters capable of being printed in one line, the required number of printing lines is calculated by a calculating circuit, and is indicated on an indicator in an indicating circuit. Accordingly, since the required number of printing lines according to the number of pieces of data stored in the data buffer is indicated, when a paper is used up, the required amount of paper in terms of the number of residual lines can be discriminated. |
