PURPOSE:To make the capacity balance between a positive and a negative electrodes adequate, by adding hydrazine or a hydrazine hydrate to an electrolytic solution to complete the preparator charging of the negative electrode without using a hydrogen-containing atmosphere but simply by assembling a battery. CONSTITUTION:Hydrazine or a hydrazine hydrate is added to an alkaline aqueous solution, which is used as the electrolytic solution of an enclosed storage battery of a nickel oxide and hydrogen. A hydrogen occlusion alloy automatically occludes the hydrogen in the alkaline aqueous solution containing the hydrazine or the hydrazine hydrate. At that time, the alloy can occlude the hydrogen without being subjected to a charging process beforehand. This is utilized to assemble the enclosed Ni/H2 battery after the hydrazine or the hydrazine hydrate is added to the electrolytic solution. As a result, the preparatory charging of the negative electrode of the battery is automatically performed when the electrolytic solution is introduced into a battery casing containing an Ni/H2 electrode pair. |
