PURPOSE:To reproduce a signal even from a magnetic recording medium subjected to lengthwise recording while using a vertical recording signal reproducing magnetic head by changing over a circuit system for reproducing a vertical recording a lengthwise recording signal where an equalizer arranging signals the same as vertical recording is provided. CONSTITUTION:In reproducing a magnetic recording medium subjected to vertical recording, a signal from a switching signal input terminal 5 throws a moving terminal 4a of a changeover switch 4 to the position of a fixed terminal 4b and throws a moving terminal 6a of a changeover switch 6 to the position of a fixed terminal 6b. Thus, a signal from a single magnetic pole magnetic head 2 is fed to the moving terminal 4a of the changeover switch 4 via an amplifier 3, fed to a vertical equalizer 7 via the fixed terminal 4b of the changeover switch 4 to improve the response characteristic. A peak is detected by a detector 8 connected an equalizer 7 and a binary-coded detection signal is fed to a digital demodulator 9. An output signal of the digital demodulator 9 is fed to the 1st fixed terminal 6b of the changeover switch 6 and led to an output terminal 10 via the moving terminal 6a of the switch 6. |
