PURPOSE:To fit tentatively top and bottom plates automatically to a cylindrical body by providing devices for taking out, transferring and positioning the top and bottom plates before a seaming device. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body 1 is fed by chain conveyors 11, 12 to a tact conveyor 14. The conveyor 14 feeds successively and intermittently the body 1 to a device 21 for positioning cylindrical body, a device 71 for fitting tentatively top and bottom plates and a seaming device 81. On the other hand, top and bottom plates 2, 3 are fed by a trolley conveyor to a device 35 for taking out top and bottom plates. The bottom plate 3 is kicked off from the hanger 17 of a conveyor 16 onto a roller conveyor 47 and in succession the top plate 2 is kicked out onto a roller conveyor 48. The plates 2, 3 are fed to the device 71 by which the plates 2, 3 are fitted tentatively to the body 1. The body 1 and the plate 2 are so positioned that the position of the mouthpiece 5 of the plate 2 coincides with the seam position of the body 1 prior to tentative fitting. The body 1 is then fed to the device 81 by which the plates 2, 3 are fixed to the body 1. The assembly is then subjected to stages for airtight testing, painting, marking, etc. and the drum is completed. |
