PURPOSE:To make it possible to certainly detect the defect of the whole barrel part of a glass bottle, by applying pressure to the glass bottle in the radius direction thereof by a press means which is in spot or line contact relation to the upper and lower parts of the barrel part of said glass bottle. CONSTITUTION:When flanges 5-8 are respectively provided to the press means 3, 4 of a glass bottle which is, in turn, rotated in a state held between the press means 3, 4, the bottle is pressed while the barrel upper and lower parts thereof are brought to spot contact with the press means 3, 4 but the max. stress values generated at the places A-F of the bottle barrel part become flat between points B-E and the addition of excessive stress is prevented. In an actual inspection line, flanges 9-12 are attached to the surfaces of a cylinder 1 pressing the bottle and a concave surface plate 2 and press only the upper and lower ends of the bottle barrel part. By this method, desired pressing force is added to the glass bottle in the radius direction thereof to break a defect bottle and the glass bottle not withstanding desired pressing force can be inspected. |
