The present invention relates to an air-supply installation for a hair dryer and similar instruments, particularly for hairdressing salons, in which the dryer is supplied with air from a blowing assembly via a network of conduits, and dryers or similar instruments intended to be used in such an installation. According to the invention, the air-distribution installation is of the compressed-air type, the primary compressed-air flow being used as a driving flow in an air nozzle (pipe) in order to create the overall air flow of the dryer 7 or similar instrument, and the instrument essentially comprises, in series, a connector 12 to the flexible compressed-air supply conduit 10 and a diffuser 18 which creates an air flow along the axis of a chamber produced in the body 8 of the instrument, which communicates in the upstream direction and at the periphery of the diffuser with vents 13 emerging into the atmosphere and, in the downstream direction, with the blowing orifices 26 of the instrument. The invention can be used particularly in hairdressing salons. <IMAGE>
