摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To prevent the burn-out of a trap and misfiring from occurring and at the same time contrive to economize fuel by a method wherein the temperature at the inlet of a trap is brought to an optimum value over the period of regeneration and kept at a temperature necessary for trapping by controlling the amount of fuel to supply in response to the changes of rotational speeds and loads of an engine. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas purifying device of an internal combustion engine consists in catching particulates in exhaust gas by means of a trap 4 arranged in an exhaust gas passage 1. When a regeneration condition judging device 27, to which the outputs of respective pressure sensors 21 and 22 or the inlet and outlet sides of the trap 4 judges that the difference between pressure before and after the trap 4 is too large to postpone the regeneration of the trap 4, a burner 5 for regenerating the trap 4 is put into actuation in order to incinerate caught particulates. In this case, an engine rotational speed sensor 23 and a load sensor 24, the outputs of both of which are brought into a control device 26, are provided. During the period that said burner 5 is in actuation, the control device 26 decides an optimum injection amount in accordance with the rotational speed and load from predetermined table data in order to control an electromagnetic type fuel injection valve 10 by a driving signal corresponding to the optimum injection amount.</p>
