An apparatus for manufacturing a fastener chain having solid sections repeatedly provides a tape having perforated sections, which include holes punched along the long- itudinal edge of the tape, and solid sections, which are free of holes. The apparatus alternates the solid sections with the perforated sections, supplying the tape so that the perforated section is placed between a stationary mold and movable mold. Tension is applied to the tape to strotch it, and then fastener elements are injection-molded onto the tape at the holes.
