PURPOSE:To enable to keep the vehicle speed lower than a prescribed maximum speed, by forming a pulsation attenuating chamber on the upstream side of a carburetor, and limiting the vehicle speed by changing the output characteristics of an engine by decreasing the effective capacity of said chamber. CONSTITUTION:Supercharging air supplied from a compressor of a supercharger is introduced into a chamber 8 having a prescribed capacity from an intake pipe 5. After attenuating pulsation of supercharging pressure in the chamber 8, supercharging air is discharged from an outlet port 11 and then supplied to an engine via a carburetor. In such an apparatus, the chamber 8 is constituted by a main cylindrical body 9, and a partition 12 forming an inlet port 10 in a diverged form is provided in the body 9 of the chamber 8. Further, another partition 13 is formed to cover about one half of the circumference of the chamber 8. Two fluid passages 14, 15 are defined by the partition 13 and a capacity varying valve 16 is disposed in the long recirculating passage 15. The valve 16 is operated by a diaphragm type actuator 17 and opened when the vehicle speed becomes higher than a prescribed value, a vehicle-speed sensor 29 is turned ON and an atmospheric port 26 is opened by a solenoid valve 24. |
