The invention relates to a method for the sealed joining of pieces of impermeable cloth and a join obtained by this method. According to the invention, there is arranged, between the two pieces of cloth 1 and 2 to be assembled, a sheet 7 of a material not weldable to the surface material of the cloth positioned along the border 5 formed by the two pieces 1 and 2 placed flat and edge to edge. The two pieces 1 and 2 are joined together with the insert sheet 7 by means of a seam 4 made along the border 5 formed by the pieces 1 and 2. The insert sheet 7 is cut off along the seam 4, and the part of this sheet 7 located between the seam 4 and the border 5 is removed. The two pieces 1 and 2 are welded in the region of their border 5. The invention will be used particularly for the manufacture of large-size flexible tanks intended for containing fluids. <IMAGE>
