PURPOSE:To enable measurement high in the sensitivity and accuracy by arranging an optical modulator made of an optically active crystal plate and a driver for vibrating it. CONSTITUTION:An optical modulator 9 is made of an optically active crystal plate 22 having an optical rotatory power in a crystal state and a driver 23 having a power amplifier 12 connected to an oscillator 13. The crystal plate 22 is provided in such a manner as to cross a plane polarized light and is vibrated reciprocatively between two positions with the device 23 to vary the angle with respect to the plane polarized light. This can increase the modulation angle thereby enabling the measurement high in the sensitivity and accuracy. |
