PURPOSE:To provide a thermal energy storage material with excellent heat stability, consisting of pentaerythritol in which the contents of impurities are controlled to specified levels. CONSTITUTION:The thermal energy storage material consists of pentaerythritol which contains less than 1% in total dipentaerythritol and bispentaerythritol monoformal, less than 60ppm sodium formate and less than 2ppm calcium formate. It shows little change in transition temperature, amount of transition heat and appearance even when kept at 180-250 deg.C for a long period and is useful as an industrial thermal energy storage material having excellent heat stability. |
