The invention relates to a semiconductor laser having a colliminating lens and a method for producing it. Use is made as colliminating lens of a spherical microlens 7 which is inserted concentrically into a housing cap 2. The housing cap 2 is produced as a rotary part and mounted on an accurately fitting positioning ring 1. In order to adjust the optical arrangement, the positioning ring 1 can be displaced onto the housing floor in the horizontal direction, and the housing cap 2 can be displaced vertically with respect to the positioning ring 1. As soon as the desired position of the lens 7 with respect to the light-emitting semiconductor element 5 is reached, the housing floor 3 and positioning ring 1 are welded to one another, as are the positioning ring 1 and housing cap 2. The use of a short-focal-length microlens leads to an exceptionally compact design for the entire arrangement. <IMAGE>
