A semi-trailer transit mixer (10), which is suitable for use with a truck (12) having a fifth wheel assembly (40) comprises a mixer drum assembly, including a rotatable mixer drum (30) with an open end, a trailer wheel assembly (20) having means (60) supporting one end of said mixer drum assembly, means (50) for supporting the other end of said mixer drum assembly on the fifth wheel assembly (40) of the truck (12), at least one of said supporting means (50, 60) being selectively operable to shift the longitudinal position of said drum (30) forwardly and rearwardly relative to the truck (12), the selective operation of said supporting means (50, 60) to the forward position causing the open end of said mixer drum (30) to be elevated substantially without obstructing movement of the truck (12) so as to allow discharge of the contents of said mixer drum (30) while operating the truck (12). |
