Title compds. (I; R2=Me, C3-12 alkylene; R3=alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkalyl, aralkyl, where the alkyl of R3 contains C1-12) were prepd. by reaction of II(M=alkali metal) and XR2Si(OR3)3(X=Cl, Br, I) at 200≦̸C in aq. soln. Thus, the mixt. of 52.3g 3-hydroxy pyridine, 112 CC dimethyl sulfoxide, 120 CC toluene, 43.2g 50% NaOH reacted with 109g 3-chloropropyl trimethoxysilane at 95≦̸C for 7 hr to give 3(3-pyridyloxy) propyl- trimethoxysilane(purity; 97%).
