A centrifugal separator for treating dustladen gas comprises centrifuging tubular cells 1', Fig. 1, mounted in a dust-collecting box 8 made of at least two portions which are assembled in a fluid-tight manner as a result of the cells being mounted in the box. The dust-laden gas entering each cell is whirled by blades 2 mounted on a streamlined body 3 and the cleaned air is discharged through a diverging member 4 while the separated dust is stopped by an annular partition 6 and is evacuated through orifices 7, upstream of the partition, into box 8. The cells may be made of synthetic plastic material. Each cell may be made of a single tubular body or, preferably as shown, of two parts 1, 1<SP>1</SP> which interengage and are retained together by screwing the parts together or by a projection 10 on one part engaging in a groove 11 in the other part. When the parts 1, 1<SP>1</SP> are assembled through openings 14, 15 in the box, flanges 12 on the parts bear on the portions of the box 8 and cause compression or a rubber packing ring 13 inserted between the box portions to provide a fluid-tight seal. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, the gas passes through gratings 17 before entering the cells 1 and through a filter 18 made of impregnated paper after leaving the cells. The box 8 is provided at its lower part with a compartment 16 which can be removed to get rid of the dust.</p> |
