<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a foamed body having high thermal insulating property even in water and allowing itself to be easily submersible by subjecting a mixture of organic high polymers and high specific gravity powders to a foaming process mainly with independent bubbles and setting their specific gravity to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A foamed body is made up of mainly independent bubbles, so that water penetration into the foamed body is more difficult than the foamed body having continuous bubbles. Accordingly, the titled foamed body displays an excellent submerged thermal insulating property and has at least a high specific gravity of 0.9. This means a small floating force in water and as such an easier submerging work. For this reason, if the titled foamed body is applied to plastic piping, the latter's total floating force does not become large. The organic high polymers used are monopolymers or copolymers of olefins such as polyethylene, polypropyrene, PVC, polystyrene, nylon, etc.</p> |
