The device according to the invention is used for the locking into position of the bridge plate of loading devices with a short span. The aim of the invention is to cut material and manufacturing costs and to be applicable in a very great variety of loading devices. The object of the invention is to make it possible for one person to operate the loading bridge with ease, which bridge ensures that a variety of differences in height are coped with and which bridge can be simply and reliably transported using fork lift trucks. According to the invention, this object is achieved by giving the bridge plate a two-armed notched lever on its side, which notched lever is arranged so as to be pivotable about a bearing which is mounted on the bridge plate in the vicinity of the support joint, the longer lever arm of the said bearing pointing towards the carrier joint and the shorter lever arm being designed as an actuating handle, with the longer lever arm of the notched lever having a stop pin corresponding with a stop element mounted on the ramp plate and its free end being designed as a fork-like gripper, by having two stops which define the pivoting region of the notched lever arranged on the side of the bridge plate and by providing the underside of the ramp plate with two U-shaped pockets. <IMAGE>
