PURPOSE:To suppress deterioration in regeneration, enhance preservability and suppress deterioration on erasing, by a method wherein a recording layer comprising a vinyl polymer having a specified group and a coloring matter is provided on a resin made base in a heat mode optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer of the optical recording medium comprises a vinyl polymer and a coloring matter. The vinyl polymer has a -COOM1 group (wherein M1 is an element of Group I A or I B) or a -COOM2OOC- group (wherein M2 is an element of Group IIA or IIB). In the above groups, M1 is preferably Li, Na or K, while M2 is preferably Zn or Mg. In this case, the vinyl polymer is a homopolymer or copolymer of an acrylic monomer having the above- mentioned group, and the content of the monomer in the polymer is preferably not less than 50%. The weight ratio of the coloring matter to the vinyl polymer is set to be 1:0.1-1:100. The thickness of the recording layer is set to be about 0.4-20mum. |
