PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance, thermal conductivity, and rigidity and to obtain a magnetic tape cassette of superior sound quality by forming both an upper and a lower cassette half of reacted sintered silicon carbide or reacted sintered silicon nitride. CONSTITUTION:The cassette halves 2 and 3 are molded by injecting a mixture of a mixture of SiC, C, and Si and an added fluidizing agent into an injection mold. This is sintered primarily in a furnace and necessary work is performed when necessary. This molding is sintered in a nonoxidative atmosphere to form the cassette halves 2 and 3. Similarly, reactive sintered silicon nitride is usable. Consequently, the wear resistance, thermal conductivity, and rigidity are improved to obtain the magnetic tape cassette of superior sound quality. |
